This is us....The Fan Club Team and some active supporters:

Daniela Steins

Nancy Steinerstauch

Gabi “Krümel” Perz

Assigned tasks: Website, autograph service, Fan Club correspondence, public relations

My name is Daniela Steins. I was born on august 23rd 1978 in Dortmund. I studied American literature and social science and I work in the marketing division of a huge IT software and consultant house today. There, I’m mainly responsible for content management and online journalism.

My biggest hobby, of course, is the Fan Club and biathlon in general. Beside that I’m also interested in many other kinds of sports. I do some sports myself, too (cycling, jogging, swimming) after I have done track and field for many years. Further, I enjoy reading and painting and I often go to the movies.

I’m a biathlon-fan since the Olympic Games 1992 in Albertville. I got to know Uschi in 1993 thanks to the former biathlete Antje Harvey, and since then I’m following her outstanding career.

In the course of the years I became a huge fan of Uschi mainly because of her fresh personality. I’m fascinated about her sportive behaviour, her fairness, how she deals with victories and defeats, and her friendly appearance, always smiling with some warm words on her lips.

Assigned tasks: Membership administration and registration

My name is Nancy Steinerstauch. I was born in Hildburghausen on March 19th 1976. After my secondary school graduation I did a job training as a clerk. I’m working in a company which produces wet shave technique (shavers, razor blades, razor systems, etc). There I’m acting as desk clerk and employee in the personnel office.

In my free time I’m mainly interested in biathlon and soccer. Because I had been an Uschi Disl fan for a long time and because I had been to the World Cups in Ruhpolding and Oberhof with my family, I finally found the UDFC in the internet after a long search in Mai 2000. Of course I immediately got registered. In September 2000 we went together to the ATT in Oberhof, where we got to know Gabi. Together we visited several World Cups. I enjoyed the seasons with the fan Club very much and I think that the following winters are going to be even better because we have many nice members and in a collective everything is more enjoyable!

Assigned Task: Organization

My name is Gabi Perz, but most of my friends call me “Kruemel”. I was born on June 12th 1970 in Muehlhausen/Thurignia. After kindergarten and school I learned my dream job: attendant at the “Deutsche Bahn” (German Public Railway Service). In June 2000 I moved to Munich due to a workers rationalization. There I’m working as an ICE- attendant and sometimes as an ICE- chef. My hobbies are biathlon and women soccer.

During the ATT 2000 in Oberhof Uschi introduced me to her Fan Club, so that I wouldn’t have to travel alone to the World Cups any longer. I’m very glad about that. All the girls were very nice and two weeks later I became a member of the UDFC. The season 2000/2001 with all its World Cups we visited went very well. On the first World Cup in Antholz, Nicky, Dani and Nancy decided that from now on I should act as “speaking-tube” and “stately-approved Uschi questioner”. In Oberhof I have been advanced as a “manager”!

I enjoy the work in and with the Fan Club very much because everything is simply enjoying in such a group. I hope the coherence will stay like this and I don’t want to miss any of the members

Furthermore, we wanna say thank you to the main core of our fan club. These members support us whenever they can and we’re extremely glad to have them by our side.

July: Our video and presentation queen

Steffi: Our technic freak

Until the year 2006 our team was made up of another person: Nicky- but she withdrew from our fan club activities. We still wanna thank her for building up the fan club with us and for everything she did for the club.

Our credits...we want to say THANK YOU to the following persons and institutions:

Uschi: We don’t know where to start. We have to thank you so much for your support. You’re always there for us and our concerns. You’re interested in our work and you already did so much for us. We’re proud to lead your fan club and we enjoy our work because we know that the fan club is important for you as well, and that you are commited to it by heart. It couldn’t be any better for us! Moreover, thank you very much for many, many enjoyable and funny days with you, for your openness, and for all your competitions that you made unforgetable for us. We’re backing you all the way and we’re proud of you. Your friendship means a lot to us. You’re the best!!!!

Our history:

After visiting the World Cups in Oberhof and Ruhpolding 2000 we recognized the huge amount of Uschi fans and soon, the idea of founding the UDFC grew in our minds. We thought it was time to make a Fan Club for this great athlete. During the World Championships in Oslo 2000 Uschi gave us her OK for founding the Fan Club. After we had checked the conditions with Uschi during the German Championships in march 2000, we founded the Fan Club on April 1st, 2000. Our homepage exists since May 2000 and we are very happy that our site is that popular.

Before the season 2000/2001, we already had 20 members. During the years the number grew up to about 70 members (2004), who came from all over Germany and even Europe. Now, as Uschi has ceased from her active career, there are about 20 members left and we still have much fun to visit biathlon competitions. Of course, Uschi will remain true to the world of biathlon and so do we!
